Last September 13 and 14, Working Remote PH held the largest companies that hire virtual assistants for the benefit of aspiring and current remote it staffing remote workers. There, several experts talked about matters related to sustainable careers that can be done anywhere around the world.
We at Remote Workmate gladly took the opportunity to expand our knowledge on emerging technologies, tools and techniques as well as the present state of the industry. Allow us to share some of the highlights of the event along with our thoughts on what we’ve learned:

Representing the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin discussed their Digital Jobs PH initiative, which is designed to create IT-related jobs in socio-economically disadvantaged areas in the Philippines.

Becoming a virtual assistant is considered one of the most lucrative careers online. However, it requires excellent time management skills to earn international rates. Jason Dulay, founder of Virtual Assistant Bootcamp, was happy to share some tips on planning your day and being laser-focused.
Jason touched on the Deep Work Hypothesis, Pomodoro Technique and Kanban Method, along with other approaches to being more productive. He ended his discussion with the thought that when you can do more in the least amount of time, you can relax and have time for your family.

Billie Bautista sought to inspire persons with disability (PWD) to achieve their dream lifestyle. Despite facing discrimination for being physically challenged, Billie encouraged people to learn to fall forward.

The future of social media marketers in the Philippines was the main topic of Social Media Academy founder Nix Eniego. For anyone who has been interested in capitalising on social media, Nix provided concrete steps to forming your own agency:

VB Consulting founder and LinkedIn Trainer Virginia Bautista gave a very practical talk on personal branding on LinkedIn. She provided ways to set yourself apart on the platform. Her top tips were to:

Upgrading Your Wellbeing
Cindy Burdette, co-founder and CEO of ALLCARE, explained that offshore assistant remote workers need to pay attention to their health and wellness. She mentioned four elements of wellness, which are holistic health, balance, self-accountability and proactivity. Then, she delved into achieving holistic health.
Practical ideas shared included eating healthy, moving and exercising, spending time to recover, securing oneself, and focusing on what matters.
