The world has evolved. It’s no longer enough to work in an office, commute to get to and from your desk, and go home on time. We all have many more options than just working from home or the office at night. In fact, remote work is becoming more widespread than ever before. And for good reason: it allows you to ditch the commute, improve your productivity, make yourself healthier, and build better relationships with colleagues within your company or outside of it.
Remote work means happier, healthier employees. Research shows that remote work can reduce stress and improve health and productivity of employees, among other things.
Flexibility
As a remote worker, you have the freedom to decide when, where and how much time you want to put into your job. You can take breaks whenever it is most convenient for you. This means that if something comes up at home or with family members that requires more attention than usual during the working day (like kids’ sports practice), there’s no need to worry about taking away from work time just because of it.
Additionally, this flexibility allows for more creativity in how we work together as a team; by being able to shift schedules around when needed without having any negative impact on productivity or effectiveness!
Ditching the commute
With the current state of Manila’s traffic and transportation crisis, it is a nightmare to commute these days. It carves out a huge portion of our time in the day that we are left with little rest or sleep which results in high stress levels and poor health. Then we have to do it all over again the next day.
Removing our commute from our daily comings and goings gives us back our time and what we choose to do with it. This allows us to be more productive, more focused, less stressed, and have better well-being.
Improved morale
One other reason to switch to remote work is improved morale. Remote workers are more productive, happier, and healthier than their co-workers who sit in an office all day every day. Not only do they get more done, but they also have a better environment to work in—a place that caters specifically for them and their needs rather than imposing on them like an office does.
In addition to getting things done faster, remote workers tend to be happier because they don’t have the stress of commuting or being late for meetings because of traffic on the road or trains that run too often (or not often enough). Plus there’s no one staring at you when you’re trying really hard not to make eye contact with anyone else!
Better for your health
Working from home can help you sleep better, stay healthier and be more productive. For example:
- Less stress. Working from home means that you don’t have to worry about missing a flight or getting stuck in traffic—you can just relax on the couch while watching television or working through your emails.
- More sleep. It may seem counterintuitive at first, but working from home will give you more time to rest than going into the office every day because there are fewer distractions (and less noise). This is especially true if it’s quiet where you live, which means that sleeping becomes easier without any noise around.
- Less office politics: If someone doesn’t like how someone else does something at their company then they might start talking negatively about them behind their back—or worse yet firing them altogether. With remote work though there isn’t any way for people outside those offices know what goes on inside unless they happen upon these meetings themselves, and even then only those involved would know exactly what was said during those meetings anyway so no harm done there either.
Better for the environment
The less cars there are on the road, the better it is for the environment. Not having to commute lessens the carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere which traps heat, causing global warming and climate change.
Did you ever think you’d be able to do your part in saving the planet while just staying at home? That’s not bad at all.
Saves you money
On top of saving the planet, you also save money. Aside from not having to pay for gas, you also save on going out for lunch, parking fees, coffee, and clothes.
Land a remote job
We hope this has been helpful in helping you understand why it’s important to switch to remote work. If you are still feeling unsure, then I would recommend talking to others who have already made the change and getting their perspective on the benefits. If you do decide to make the change from conventional office-based work, don’t be afraid! It can be a difficult transition at first but once you get used to working remotely then things will seem much more natural for everyone involved.
