On the lookout for remote jobs in web development? You and the rest of the internet, apparently! But fret not; we’ve got your back.
To help you on your job search, we’ve put together a list of our top 10 spots where you can find web development jobs for remote workers. So whether you’re a grizzled veteran or a total newbie, there’s something for you below.
Remote Workmate
You don’t have to go far to find web development jobs, because we have them here. But unlike the other sites we’ve listed, Remote Workmate isn’t tech-specific; we also list roles in other categories.
A few other major differences:
- Unlike freelance marketplaces or job boards where you do everything yourself, we’ll find clients for you. If at some point your client needs to let you go (e.g. budget issues, business closure), we’ll find you another client.
- We ensure you’re paid for your work. That’s because we verify your client’s payment methods to confirm everything is accounted for.
- We can help you with any concerns about the job. For example, if you have a dispute with your client, we’ll mediate to ensure that the relationship is going smoothly.
Authentic Jobs
Authentic Jobs advertises itself as “The leading job board for designers, developers, and creative pros,” so it’s not focused solely on tech jobs. However, it does have a selection of remote web development roles; you just need to filter it. Here’s how:
- Click the wireless logo to show the remote roles.
- Refine your search by clicking “Skills” and selecting your specialization.
Stack Overflow
Stack Overflow, a Q&A website on programming, has its own jobs board as well. To look for remote openings, click the “Remote” checkbox under the search bar. From there, you can further refine your search by specifying various filters like:
- The technology you’re into.
- Your desired compensation.
- Your desired perks.
You can even create an alert to notify you whenever there are new jobs that match your search.
GitHub
GitHub is a Git hosting service with its own job board (like Stack Overflow). They post their own job openings here as well. You have the option to search for full-time jobs, and can filter your search by entering related keywords in the search box.
We Work Meteor
If you use Meteor.js, then check out the We Work Meteor job board. The site is pretty basic and has no filtering options, but it’s really easy to browse. Most of the jobs here are contract-based or freelance gigs.
Reactiflux Jobs
The Reactiflux website is a web development community with a jobs section. Note that most openings posted here are for front-end web development so if that’s your specialty, Reactiflux is a great place to look for direct remote work.
Like other websites listed here, Reactiflux offers filtering options like:
- When the job was posted.
- If a job is for remote work.
- Showing internship options.
JustUXJobs
If you’re a design-focused web developer, have a look around JustUXJobs for a remote role. As of this writing, the job board has a few filtering options where you can choose between freelance, full-time and/or remote positions. You can select a specific job category as well.
Indeed
Indeed is a huge job search engine that’s been around for a while (it’s even bigger than Monster.com). It posts a variety of openings but you can filter it to show remote jobs in web development, then refine your search further for details like location, salary and experience level.
SkipTheDrive
Looking for pre-filtered listings that allow for work-from-home options? Visit the SkipTheDrive jobs board. In addition to web development openings, SkipTheDrive also shows openings for other work categories (e.g. finance, administrative) and lets you narrow your search by relevance, date, full-time or part-time, and location.
Hubstaff Talent
The Hubstaff Talent job board also features web development jobs, but you’ll have to filter the results to see them. Here’s how:
- Click the “Skills” search box
- Key in “web dev”.
- Click “Web Development”.
If you wish, you can also narrow the results by date, pay rate, experience level, country and language.
A parting reminder: to get a good remote development job (or any job, for that matter), make sure you a) frequent these websites, b) apply right away when you find something up your alley, and c) create a custom cover letter for each company to set yourself apart from the other candidates.
Best of luck in your search!
