We thought we should have more guests on the Remote Workmate blog. After five successful entrepreneurs, now we are welcoming a Philippine-based remote assistant. Archie is just one of the many internet-savvy young Filipinos ready to put their skills to good use and help Western companies ease the workload of their senior staff members or optimise their workflow so that they’d spend less time on non-profitable tasks.
Meet Archie! He’s 26, got married just a couple of months ago, and just moved in the Obrero neighbourhood in Davao City. He and his wife are still adapting to the new neighbourhood, but he is happy they can feel safe. Like many Filipinos his age, Archie worked for a Western company in a call centre. He got accustomed to the Western culture and learned new skills, adding more professional experience and insights to his resume. What was useful for an internet savvy worker but wasn’t covered by his college education, was supplied by his friends, people also working in the Philippines ‘ BPO industry.
Archie used to offer customer assistance on websites through real-time chat solutions, publish social media content or answer calls for clients and employers, helping customers get the info they were looking for before purchase. Another task he used to complete often was to convert images or PDFs into Word documents.
Currently, he’s looking for a new remote job. He’d like to be a general virtual assistant, data entry/data encoding specialist or customer care representative. He’s also interested in social media marketing, but he knows his employer would have to guide him a bit at first.
For leisure, Archie loves going to the gym, playing basketball and volleyball, and testing his dexterity on mobile games.
If you’d like to test his skills, give us a sign at hire at remoteworkmate.com.
