Did you know that 9 out of 10 Filipinos want jobs that offer a work-from-home arrangement? With all the bad traffic in metro areas, it’s not really that surprising.
But it gets interesting: among online jobs, customer service is pretty popular here at Remote Workmate. Why? Because the Philippines is a major outsourcing destination and a considerable chunk of the industry’s jobs fall under customer service.
You’re probably here reading this because you’re looking for a customer service job. You’ve come to the right place. Today, we’ll show you what we think are the best places to find one.
Remote Workmate
We offer a variety of roles and periodically have online jobs for customer service. But compared to the other places listed here, we’re a little different. Here are a few ways how:
- Unlike freelance marketplaces or job boards where you need to find gigs yourself, we’ll find clients for you. If your client needs to lay you off because of circumstances beyond your control (e.g. budget issues, business closure), we’ll find you another client.
- When a client hires you, we’ll give you an Account Manager who will regularly check in and see if you have any needs or concerns. For example, if you have a dispute with your client over something, we’ll mediate and help smooth over the relationship.
- The pay for every hour of work you put in is guaranteed. We also eliminate the risk of fluctuating exchange rates by paying your salary in Peso. No more going through PayPal which would lower your pay.
Fiverr
Fiverr is a popular freelance marketplace where you can take on small jobs for as little as $5. Naturally, you can charge more, especially for more complex and/or ongoing offshore assistant tasks like responding to customer concerns via email and calls.
You go through three basic steps:
- Sign up for Fiverr and create a gig.
- Get notified when you receive an order, discuss/clarify the details with your client, then get to work.
- Get paid upon completion of the gig.
Upwork
Upwork is the largest and one of the most well-known places to start freelancing. At any given time, the platform offers a staggering variety of online jobs under the customer service/support category.
Tip: when deciding where to apply, always go for clients with a verified payment method.
OnlineJobs.ph
OnlineJobs is probably the largest job board for remote it staffing work roles. Before you can start searching for employment opportunities, you need to sign up for an account and fill up your profile – otherwise, clients might not want to hire you.
To filter your search results:
- Click the dropdown menu below “JOB CATEGORY” and select “Customer Service & Admin Support”.
- You can further narrow your search by choosing a “JOB SUB CATEGORY” and/or checking any of the boxes under “EMPLOYMENT TYPE”.
- Click “REFINE SEARCH RESULTS”.
Indeed
Indeed is a large employment search engine that brings together data from thousands of websites like company career pages, job boards and staffing firms.
Because of the sheer amount of search results, you’ll need to refine your search. You can do this by clicking the options on the left side of the screen (e.g. Salary Estimate, Job Type, Experience Level).
SimplyHired
Here’s another option, but comes with a twist: SimplyHired is an employment website and mobile app. It’s pretty convenient to use because clicking “Apply Now” brings you to the hiring company’s website, where you can apply directly.
Craigslist
If you’re looking for employment, you’ve probably visited Craigslist. It’s actually a great place to find work and offers many legitimate opportunities. Craigslist is also free and shows many new jobs every day.
The downside is that you need to take extra steps to ensure that the job post is legit – perhaps more so than your usual efforts.
Flexjobs
If you want to explore a job board like JobStreet or Kalibrr, try Flexjobs. The difference: its opportunities are more flexible (for lack of a better word) because they offer remote virtual assistant positions. What’s great about it? Each listing is vetted, so you know they’re not scams.
The problem is that you have to subscribe for full access to their services (e.g. email notifications, webinars, create multiple profiles), and it’s worth upwards of $14.95 per month, which can be steep, especially when converted to Philippine pesos.
Closing
If you want to be hired directly by a company and take on a customer service role remotely, there is a wealth of options available here. Direct hiring’s main draw is its potentially larger salary.
But if you’re looking for security in your job search, you can’t go wrong with Remote Workmate. We’ll ensure that you’re paid and on time. Encounter any work-related concern and we’ll mediate. If you perform but lose your client, we’ll find you another one.
Whatever option you choose, see to it that you always go with reputable websites to minimize the risk involved.
